The hotel offers bush drives in its Private Reserve and throughout the Kruger National Park, along with open vehicle safaris and organized game trails for you and your invited guests. A birdwatchers paradise and for young and old alike, Hotel facilities include a unique Tree House sleep out, and a variety of sporting facilities.
Hotel venues
River Boma
Situated within the Kruger National Park big game territory on the banks of the Sabie River, approximately 200 metres from the hotels Lapa restaurant, the River Boma is a unique wedding reception venue. A ranger accompanies GUESTS at all times and the venue is available weather permitting. Guests can walk between the River Boma and the hotel at leisure. The venue is rustic with river sand underfoot. A maximum of 200 guests can be seated.
Bush Boma
Situated on the perimeter of our 100 ha reserve away from the comforts of electricity, with seating for a maximum of 80 diners. Guests are transported in open vehicles and are accompanied by a game ranger at all times. The venue is only available weather permitting.
The African Conference Room
This is a private venue in the hotel complex. It is open-sided (with roll-down blinds), and is flanked by a wooden boardwalk, overlooking the Kruger National Park. It is suitable for groups of various sizes (up to a maximum of 120 people) as screen dividers and plants are used to adjust the size of the venue. The African Conference Room is tiled and as it is open-sided, it is not air-conditioned.
Tree House
The tree house is situated in our private reserve and can accommodate a maximum of 14 people for a sleep-out or 20 guests for dinner or sundowners. GUESTS are transported to and from the tree house in our open-sided vehicle and are accompanied by a ranger at all times. The venue is very rustic and consists of a boma with wooden tables for dining and adjacent to the boma are two platforms for game viewing and sleeping (if required). There are ablution and shower facilities available.
The Ponds
The ponds are situated opposite our reception, approximately 200m from the hotel. It is a tranquil grassed area under a canopy of trees, which surrounds three ponds. It is usually used for light picnic or finger lunches where guests relax on blankets and occasional chairs to the sound of running water.
Indoor Function Rooms
The Protea Hotel Kruger Gate has 5 formal conference rooms within the main complex. The function rooms are all air-conditioned, suitable for wedding receptions and ceremonies, cocktail parties, dinner/ dance and gala functions.
