Driving from Cape Town through the Overberg region you quickly pick up the feeling of simple lifestyle. Passing Swellendam you will soon find the open space you've been looking for. On your right hand side, (40 km after Swellendam), the Slangrivier turn-off leads you to Kapkamma, a working sheep farm and natural sanctuary.
As you near the homestead, nature welcomes you with a winding river breaking up the flat surroundings with cliffs and aloes. Nestled in a basin the homestead offers you a puposefully renovated wedding combination: The thatched roof church and rustic style barn reception building.
On the church door the Afrikaans word "vrede" wishes peace upon you. Walking into the church the cool dark clay walls create a peaceful and warm atmosphere. Passing the wooden horse crib filled with flowers you notice a large wooden cross overhanging the pulpit from rusted barbed wire.
The typical triple sloping roof and green wooden stable doors of the reception barn creates anticipation as you near. Inside, revealing red bricks, the walls are being lit by cosy laterns.
Wedding decor contrasts with the interior. The thick wooden ceiling beams create a cheerful cellar feel.
As you open the dance floor the surrounding seating areas will watch as you glide past the large openings in the walls. An old aeroplane propeller and wooden staircase creates atmosphere in the bar and the cosy bathrooms are just around the corner.

Your Wedding

Both the church and reception area can accommodate up to 200 guests. The buildings were designed to allow for more intimate spaces that can be created for smaller weddings or any other occasion such as a special birthday party, an anniversary or a christening.
When your guests have arrived, no more driving is neccessary as the two buildings are literally metres apart. Once you have made your vows to each other, the guests can relax with drinks and canapes under the bluegum trees while your memories are being captured by the photographer. We have the perfect setting for your wedding photographs.
To assist you with the planning of your wedding, we have a caterer and flower lady hand picked for this venue to create food and atmosphere to fit the venue style.
You can choose the menu and discuss finer details with Andrea, your venue host.
A caterer and decorator of your own preference can also be hired.

Accommodation

|
We have a list of accommodation options available for guests in the close vicinity. Guest houses and self catering accommodation are abundant in the area. Accomodation options range from 4 star to self catering or a hut in the indigenous forest.
The beach town of Witsand, famous for whale watching, is close by for more accommodation options. All accomodation is less than 30 minutes away from the farm.
For the bride there is a luxury guest house about 15 minutes away where she can get ready in peace. On request we have a private romantic honeymoon cottage on the farm powered by gas and lamps. Other Honeymoon suggestions are no problem.
