Exchanging Vows
With gardens, farm and reserve at your fingertips, Fynbos Estate offers a variety of outdoor and indoor possibilities for your ceremony. You can marry in the gardens surrounding the old Victorian farmhouse, on the stone steps of the Pavilion or in the surrounding fields and vineyards. Indoors is the chapel, a renovated wine cellar circa 1850, which takes 100 people, and for small weddings, you may want to marry in the graceful old farmhouse itself
For small groups wanting more adventure, a 20 minute hike takes you to the `great boulders’ where you can gather beneath the soft leafy canopy of the `sacred’ forest.
With more time, you can drive up Dragonridge and marry in the most spectacular of all locations – on the very top of the mountain with spectacular views from Table Mountain all the way to the Drakenstein range.
The Reception
Many beautiful locations offer themselves for your wedding reception. Most lovely perhaps is in the garden under the hundred year-old oaks or under the mountain on the stone steps of the Pavilion courtyard.
While the first of these offers a naturally contained space surrounded by singing birds and flowering shrubs, the second has gentle views in every direction, wooden floors and awnings that can be raised or lowered as required.
On a clear night The Pavilion lies beneath a starry dome and at certain times of the year the unforgettable Milky Way fills the night sky.
Whether in the garden or the Pavilion, seating can be fashioned into either banquet style or individual round tables and is available at any time of the day or night.
While outdoor spaces can take numbers up to 100, seating under cover in the Pavilion is limited to 80. Should numbers exceed this a marquee can be hired.
Johan is a chef with a fine reputation for delicious country food and he will take great care in creating a menu of all your favourites, from Indian to French to a South African style spit braai.
Wherever possible produce is sourced from the farm’s vegetable garden or surrounding farms and is homemade.
And alongside his passion for creating culinary pleasure with wholesome ingredients (and wholesome servings), Johan’s passion is for making superlative wines, marketed under the Dagonridge label.
All of this - good food, excellent wine, a magical setting - is woven together by Diana’s care in creating an atmosphere suited to your needs which will not leave you rushed or sharing the space with other events.
Prices are kept reasonable without hidden costs and always include the farmhouse for dressing before the event and the farm as a whole for photographs.
For afterwards, the Farmhouse and cottages can house 24 - 26 guests sharing in comfortable, charming and relaxed accommodation.
All in all Fynbos Estate is a special and unique place of simplicity and natural beauty combined with an abundance of good food and wine. What could be better for your special day!
