The Cradle Restaurant

The Cradle is a 3000 Hectare Nature Reserve situated in the heart of the Cradle of Humankind, a World Heritage Site a short distance from both Johannesburg and Pretoria, South Africa.

Our rolling highveld grassland Private Nature Reserve is a natural habitat for over thirty mammal species and a rich diversity of other fauna and flora.

The Cradle is a dramatic and original wedding venue in a World heritage Site just thirty five minutes from both Johannesburg and pretoria.

The 3000 hectares of private nature reserve that surround our award winning restaurant allow you the freedom to create a truly individual wedding day.

The Cradle Weddings

We are able to host a wide ranges of ceremonies and receptions from smaller weddings that may take place under 800 year old indigenous trees, in dolomitic sinkholes or alongside the Motsetse stream, to larger more formal weddings in the Stone Dome and the Cradle Restaurant, beautiful stone, steel and glass buildings that open out on three sides to a view of the waterhole and across the pristine African landscape.

We are able to accommodate the wedding party at the Cradle Forest Camp in thatched chalets on the Motsetse stream.

The privacy of the nature reserve, the flexibility of our staff and the deep sense of wonder evoked by the ancient landscape combine to create the perfect venue for an unforgettable wedding day.
